Salvation Army, El Cajon, CA
Working with the Salvation Army for close to 5 years, through two command changes and a capital improvement campaign, Hamann Construction was able to guide the East County’s Salvation Army to a successful completion of their new Community Center. Designed by Hamann Construction’s in-house architect, Paul Giese, the 30, 500 sf “East County Red Shield Center” aims to enhance the Corp’s ability to serve those less fortunate living in eastern San Diego County. The tilt-up concrete facility houses a 2,800 sf Senior Nutrition Center with a full commercial kitchen, a 9,600 sf gymnasium / multi-purpose room with basketball, volleyball courts, work out center and a 1,000 sf Family Resource Center which works in conjunction with the 7,800 sf Food Bank warehouse. The facility provides 25’ clear height inside to accommodate the sport courts and racking within the warehouse, 1,200 sf of mezzanine storage, on site parking for 107 spaces, a loading dock, outdoor patios, a prayer garden and room for a community garden.
